Requirements
Annual Income
Applicant must have an annual income (overseas) of at least Lm 10,000
or capital (overseas) of Lm 150,000. Lm 1 = 2.45 €.
Annual Remittances To Malta
A minimum of Lm 7,000 has to be remitted annually to Malta for the
holder of the permit. A further Lm 1,000 has to be remitted for
every other person included in the permit.
These funds may be used to pay local rent, taxes, flight tickets
etc. The unspent balance may eventually be transferred out of Malta
at the end of the residency.
Acquisition Of Property
A resident has a choice of either:
i. Purchasing a house valued at not less that Lm 50,000 or a
flat valued at not less that Lm 30,000, or
ii Renting a property for not less that Lm 150 per month.
Activity Clause
No employment or engagement in business in Malta is allowed unless
authorised by the competent authorities.
Absence Of Physical Presence Requirement
Please note that there is no legal obligation to spend any minimum
amount of time in Malta. However, care has to be taken to ensure
that the center of ones' vital interests are firmly established
in Malta to avoid taxation in other jurisdictions on the basis of
double residency.
Our office will assist in the identification of suitable property
and in negotiations with estate agents or land-lords. We will also
provide introduction to local bankers specializing in personal banking
services for high net-worth individuals.
